What does it mean to be a whole single?

Image
I asked a question on my Instagram story: Does anyone know what it means to be a whole single? The responses I received were mostly “no.”  As I write now, I trust the Holy Spirit to guide and help me explain what it means to be a whole single.  According to the Oxford Dictionary, Wholeness means "the state of being unbroken or undamaged." Another definition refers to "the quality of being complete." A whole person, therefore, is a complete person—someone who is not divided or broken. A whole person is someone whose state is not defined by the shortcomings of their past or the circumstances surrounding them. Our wholeness is found in God, our Creator! The story of Adam and Eve illustrates this. Genesis 2:25 tells us that both Adam and Eve were naked but unashamed. Yet in Genesis 3:7, after disobeying God, "as soon as they had eaten it, they were given understanding and realized that they were naked, so they sewed fig leaves together and covered themselves....

Your Single Season: A Season of Strength, Not Setbacks

Yesterday on my Instagram page, I posted five tips for thriving as a single, and I thought it would be worth expanding on here in this blog post. Marriage is a beautiful and beneficial experience. The Bible even highlights the strength found in partnership, noting that "one person would chase a thousand, but two would chase ten thousand." However, the fact that marriage is valuable doesn’t mean your single season is a curse. Just like a married season, your single season also brings strength and blessings. A "single season" is a period in a person’s life when they are not in a romantic relationship or marriage. This season may be temporary or extended, but it is often a unique opportunity for self-discovery, personal growth, and strengthening one’s relationship with God. During the single season, individu...

It's a new month, and I would like to welcome you into November! I never imagined going three weeks without updating this blog page when I started writing. But life happened. Unexpected challenges arose, and I found myself in a place where I needed the courage to get back on track. Though I didn’t intentionally take a break, I realized I could’ve done better if I’d had posts ready and scheduled. This would have kept me consistent, without leaving things to chance. That background experience actually inspired today’s post: “How to Deepen Your Relationship with God,” continuing our series on thriving in your single season. Walking with God requires a high level of intentionality. You can’t leave your relationship with Him up to chance because, without effort, distance can grow between you and God. There was a time when I told a friend I felt spiritually dry. That dryness was a direct result of my inconsistency in spending time with God. As Christians, it’s essential to understand tha...
